TIME

Sometimes you wonder, time, where has it gone? If you respect fellow humans or position, you are in order but if you treat time merely as a beautiful clock that…

WAITING IS TOUGH

Have you ever told your friend you are on your way when, truly, you are yet to set out? If you have ever done so, you are not alone. It is an indication that you are well aware that people don’t like to wait, especially when the reason for your delay was unintended. Indeed, waiting is tough. I recall an occasion when I was billed to attend a social gathering with my old classmates. I reminisced the old times and I looked forward to the fun. I was ready ahead of time but had to wait for another classmate whom we were to attend together.

LIVE AND LET LIVE

You might have seen situations where people withhold the privileges due to others, not because the latter does not deserve it but because the former believes that his own chance of enjoying that same privilege tomorrow will be blocked. Tomorrow seems so dear to us that we, sometimes, sacrifice our humanity today for a tomorrow that is far enough to witness many changes that can make our strive today less meaningful to explain man’s inhumanity to man.

WHEN THE WIND IS CONTRARY

Those who plan get better results. When you are shattering your goals and things are working according to plan, you can boast about character and good judgement. That is a good time to reflect. It is easier to flow with the wind when it flows in your direction but the best time to test your strength is when the wind is contrary. Can the wind be contrary? Yes it can, not because you don’t plan or pray but because you are human.

INVISIBLE ANSWERS IN THE SONG “BLOWING IN THE WIND” BY PETER, PAUL & MARY

The melody is not only fascinating, the performance connects straight to the heart. The voices are not only sonorous, the undulating tune is magnetic. This is not just a music, the composition speaks to some of the mysteries of life. Music credit to BBCFour. As I savour the rhymes from the chorus, Peter, Paul and Mary sent me to a solo world of sobriety. As I tried to put a meaning to the lyrics, it occurred to me that many questions that life poses either don’t have answers or are not meant to be answered. How else do you tell a man that he has nothing to prove beyond the fact that he was created a man before he knows that he is truly a man without any feeling of inadequacy?

COMMON MISTAKE IN BRAND MANAGEMENT

I came across a post on Facebook recently where a motivational speaker wrote disparaging comments, practically condemning some of his followers for wasting their time, money and data to watch skits on social media that don’t add value to them (in his opinion) when they could spend the same amount to register for his online course. Ironically, this came from a trainer who offers quality teachings on selling. I know because I follow his online teachings and I found in him great quality of a trainer with deep content. His posture in that instance contradicts my perception of him and I was so disappointed, to say the least. Sales and marketing have taken a completely new dimension. Whether you are selling a product, a service or yourself, we all need some tips on branding and brand management. Whatever you want to convince me to buy or buy into is a brand. The world has dynamically changed such that personal branding has become a moving product and those who know the secret are cashing out with great rewards.

THE MIND GAME.

There is a positive side to an argument, particularly when the parties involved are well informed and when the gladiators are convicted in their beliefs. I love to be an observer when two well informed opposing sides engage in superiority contest in exchange of ideas. It gives me an opportunity to learn. The one that interests me the most is when each gladiator sells a narrative that is sympathetic to their personal belief and make it seem like the universal truth. Sometimes, they actually succeed in making others believe that theirs is the truth, depending on their communicative power and influence, even when there are not enough facts to back their claims. In his book, How to win friends and influence people, Dale Carnegie wrote about the nobler motive. He posited that there are usually two reasons for taking any action, the first is the real motive and the second is the nobler motive.
